The conference venue
The RESER 2024 conference will be held in Lumituuli auditorium in Dipoli Otaniemi, Otakaari 24, Espoo. Parallel sessions are in: Lumituuli, Takka, Poli and Valsta.

The venue is about 10 km from the railway station (Link to map). We recommend the use of public transportation. Dipoli is the main building of Aalto University. VTT and Aalto University are located in Otaniemi campus (Espoo) which is easily accessible by Metro from Helsinki city center (Central Railway station, Helsinki – Aalto University, Espoo).  From Aalto University Metro station there is a 7 min walk to Dipoli.

Coffee and tea will be served during the coffee breaks indicated in the programme and lunch during the lunch break on Friday 1.11. In Finland we have the best tap water in the world and recommend drinking it instead of bottled water. There is a self-paid lunch possibility on 31.10 before 12 o’clock at Dipoli’s Reima restaurant (2nd floor).

Conference Dinner on Friday 1st November at 20.00 – 23.00

The dinner will take place at restaurant Restaurant Lasipalatsi 2nd floor, Mannerheimintie 22-24, Helsinki. You will easily get to the restaurant by public transportation. Closest metro station is Kamppi.

Social programme Nov 2, at 10.00-12.00

Finnish Sauna Experience on Saturday morning at 10.00. Price 22 € at own expense, to be paid directly to Allas Sea Pool (credit cards OK). Bring your swimsuit, towel, sandals, water bottle. Towel rent 8,90€.

Helsinki
Helsinki – the capital of Finland – is located on the Gulf of Finland, on the Southern coast of Finland. There are more than 600.000 inhabitants in Helsinki. Helsinki is also one of the world’s most popular conference city and has a reputation as an interesting, safe, clean, and welcoming host.

How to get from the airport to Helsinki City
Finland is easily accessible from all directions either by air or sea and has excellent connections with the rest of Europe and the world. There are several daily direct flights to Helsinki from most European capitals and connecting flights from other continents. Helsinki Airport locates 20 kilometres from Helsinki City Centre. Public transport in Helsinki
Public transport (HSL) in the metropolitan area is well organized. A ticket must be purchased before the journey. The heart of the service area is in zones A and B in Helsinki. A ticket costs 2,95€ and is valid for 80 minutes. We recommend to download the Mobile App for HSL to buy tickets and view connections. There might be some ticket vending machines at the major stops accepting cards but safest is the download the app.

From the railway station we recommend taking the metro (20 min) to Aalto University metro station and use the station’s western exit (Aalto University). Walk 7 min to the venue. The route map for the walk is here and below.

Passport and visa
Citizens of the European Union and several other countries do not need a visa for entering Finland. Detailed information about passport and visa requirements can be found on the website of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

Insurance 
Please check the validity of your own insurance. The meeting organisers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained nor loss of, or damage to, property belonging to visitors or the accompanying persons during the meeting.

Local time 
The time in Finland is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). See world times. 

Currency 
The currency of Finland is the Euro. All major credit cards are widely accepted in Finland. Exchange bureaux with flexible opening hours, such as Forex, are located at the airport, the central railway station and in main shopping centres.

Electricity 
Electricity in Finland is 230 Volts (50Hz). Plugs and sockets are the same as in the continental countries of the EU. In case your equipment requires different voltage or plugs, please bring an adapter.

Tipping
Tipping is not expected in Finland.
